Clarity of Mind

Praise the Lord, the report cam back from the Pet Scan, no cancer! Thank you for praying and encouraging us.

My goal is to be off most of my medications by the end of the year and be on the road in 2011. I am still physically very weak. I am trying to build up my physical body. Long days really take a lot out of me. Please pray for confidence, strength in my body, clarity of mind and a sense of wholeness.

We are so humbled that you have been with us through this whole ordeal, it has brought us closer to the Lord and to each other.

We are praying for you daily and for your family.

In His wonderful love,

AL & Sherry

My apologies

Yes, I am here! Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus Christ.

My health is fairly good. I am still weak in my body, slowly improving. My doctor is telling me it will be a few more months before I can go out and full-blown preach. I have ministered at an Aglow a few weeks ago and it plum tuckered me out. When someone has heart surgery it is believed it takes 2-3 years to fully recover, like wise my condition (although not heart problems) This is coming up to two years and I am gaining weight (150) which is very encouraging, I was down to 127 at my lowest point. I want to go preaching right now, but God spoke to me very clearly that I must wait for His direction and OK before I can go ahead. In all humility, I have many pastors wanting me to come (it's up to me to contact them and simply set it up), but God is holding my back for a few more months.

In the mean time our walk with Christ is close and we love Him with all of our hearts and are growing closer to Him daily. Financially we are down a bit, making it and paying our bills, albeit a little slower. I am still seeing a vision for the body of Christ, victorious and on the offensive. I will be contacting churches soon to come and minister...pray for me in this area, please. I'm still visiting doctors and taking some medications, but nothing like before.

Sherry is holding up much better, her nerves have calmed down and she is enjoying the peace of the Lord. Our son pastors in Frederick, MD and we go every chance we can.

Give us your prayer requests, we pray every day for all on our mailing list and especially those who give us specific requests. If you are not on our mailing list, contact us.

In His great Love,

AL & SHERRY

His grace to recover again

My newsletter just went out (two weeks late) stating that I would have an operation June 7th. That has come and passed. They took out my gall bladder, old scar tissue that was surrouding around my old incision on my stomack, and repaired a herina. I am still in pain a week later and recovery time will be 8-12 weeks according to my doctor. I have two tubes in me that drains fluid and will have to have them taken out in 10 days or so.

Thank you for your prayers and support. Sherry stayed with me at the hospital, sleeping four nights in a chair. Her emotional state (worrying about me) and being physically worn out has taken a toll. Please keep her in prayer.

We are believing that this is the last major operation and I can get back on the road.

God is faithful to do what He promised (1 Thess. 5:24) We pray for you daily.

Much love

AL & Sherry

Up date on Al

Greetings in the name of our Lord Jesus,

Al and I spent 6 days at John's Hopkins (April 20-26-2010---2 1/2 days were in intensive care) for the operation on his lungs. He has been in pain and must take pain pills every four hours for 2 more weeks. He was in the hospital exactly one year since we found out about the cancer. The cancer has been healed!!! The doctore has already made arrangements for the operation on Al's hernia and gall blatter the first week of June. It will take about 5 more months for him to heal from all the operations. Al has really been through it. We keep our eyes and hearts focused on the Lord!

Please continue to pray for Al's complete healing and increase in wieght (he weights about 133 pounds).

Blessings to all,

Sherry

Hi,

Please pray for Al on April 21. He is in the hospital at Johns Hopkins in Baltimore, MD. He will be having a two and a half surgary on his lungs. First the doctor will draw fluid off both of his lungs (4th time since the major surgary in Sept. A camera will be placed down in his lungs to examine them. A sample of tissue will be taken to check for cancer. There is a thin lining around the lungs. A liquid of some sort will be put in between the lining and the lung. This will make the lining attach to the lung hence solving the problem of fluid build up in the lungs. The problem is a result of the radiation treatments that Al had for the cancer. Al will be in the hospital for a week. He will be in a great deal of pain for awhile after the surgery. There will be an 8 week recovery time for this procedure. The doctor said that the hernia operatin will have to wait until Al's lungs recover.

I will let you all know what is going on with Al in a few days.

Thank you,

Sherry

Back to John,s Hopkins

Hello,

We are sorry that we have not gotton back to you all sooner but we did not hear from Hopkins until today. Al will be admitted to Hopkins April 20. He has fluid on his lungs once again. This will be the fourth time that he will have fluid taken off his lungs since the major operation. After he is amitted he will have chest x-ray, cat scan, blood work taken etc. On Wed. or Thursday the doctor will make two incisions on one of his lungs. He will drain the lung then scrape the lung. Then they will watch Al to see how he does with the procedure. After a few days the doctor will do the same procedure on the opposite lung. This will solve the problem of the lungs filling up with fluid. It sounds like Al will be in the hospital for about a week.

Please pray as the Lord leads,

With much love,
Sherry

Al's Progress

Al and I went to John's Hopkins on March 19. We were told that Al will have at least two more months to recover from the surgery that he had in September because he has had a few setbacks (fluid was taken off his lungs 3 times, 700 cc of fluid was taken off around his heart, A MIRACLE HIS HEART WAS NOT DAMAGED, problems with his blood pressure being low, and he has lost 50 pounds. He now weights 140 and other problems). As a result of these setbacks he is still very weak.

We also learned that he has a hernia the size of a baseball at the bottom of his stomach as a result of the radiation affecting the tissue in that area which cased the problem. Al will have to get another operation to take the hernia out as well as his gall bladder. He must get stronger before he can have the operation.

Al went to John's Hopkins again on April 6. He had tests taken concerning the hernia and gall bladder. We should know within the week what actions the doctors are going to solve the problem. He also has fluid on both lungs again. The doctor said that will have to wait a little to decide what to do about it.
We are sorry that we have not kept this up to date. It seems like life is so busy.
Thank you so much for your prayers. Our sisters and brother in Christ have been such a blessings to us.

Dear loves ones,

Al and I want to thank you so much for all your love, prayers, cards with words of such encouragement that have helped us so much, and financial support. We really cannot express how thankful we are for our family in Christ. We would not have made it over the past 9 months without you all.

Please continue to pray for Al as the Lord leads. In October he was at Johns Hopkins for a week because the doctors drew off 700 cc of fluid from around his heart. On a normal basis there is only 15 cc of fluid around the heart. The doctors could not believe that his heart was not damaged. (BUT GOD). His heart was racing from being so stressed from all the pressure. He must take medication to slow the rate down. Two days later 500 cc of fluid was taken off his one lung.

Al has had trouble with adopting to his new way of eating. His weight has dropped down to 149. Recently we found out that he has gale stones; and the doctor thinks he has a blockage in the duct that leads from the liver to the gall batter. He is getting a MIR on Thursday Feb. 18Th to see the full aspect of the problem; then we will know what to do at that point. The enzymes in his liver are high and the liver is enlarged. The doctor feels that is a result of the blockage in the duct. Al's spleen is also enlarged.

Sunday we preached in a church in Pennsylvania. We felt so blessed to be able to preach again (little nervous-little rusty but great to be back in the saddler). Al was very tired at the end of the day. He still cannot preach full time at this point because he is still weak (but gaining strength). He is preaching at another church this Sunday. We are also arranging for other meetings in the future.

Al and I have started counseling because we have gone through so must this year. Life has been very difficult over this time period. Al was very sick and so close to death several times. It is so good to talk about everything and sift through our feelings.

We are praying for all of you; please continue to pray for us also.

In Christ love,

Sherry and Al

Cancer free, but still effects

Hello loved ones:

Hope you are are all well and walking in His joy. I did preach Dece. 27th at my son's church and it went well, but plum tuckered me out. I need more rest. Perhaps in Feb or March. Pastors, if you have anything open doing those months let me know, I'll be glad to come. I am scheduled for three meetings at Clvary-Grace A/G in Lapata in So Maryland in April.

The good needs is I got a second opion from another cancer doctor and I don't need chemo anymore. Actually, I am still tired form the first chem and radiation. The doctor told me it takes a good year for the effects of that chemo to leave you...feeling tired, sick, etc.

I so appreciate your love, prayers and support for us. I still manager to put out my monthyletter, although thinking is quite a task.

Love you all, please pray for Sherry

HIS,

AL
